How to Grill Shrimp

A shrimp is a type of seafood that is found in both salt and fresh water. One of the cooking methods that can be used for preparing shrimps is grilling. This seafood is healthy because it is rich in iodine, calcium and protein. Before preparing the seafood, it is important to know that it is classified as one of the most popular food allergens. Grilling Shrimps

The first step that you should know when preparing a grilled shrimp is to gather all the materials needed as well as the cooking utensils that you will use. The ingredients needed for the dish are a pound of large shrimps, ¼ cup vegetable oil, ½ teaspoon pepper as well as ¼ teaspoon salt. The materials that you will use are skewers, a barbecue grill and a knife.

After preparing all the materials and the ingredients, the second step is to fill a small basin with water. Put the skewers in the basin and soak for 20 minutes to half hour. You need to soak the utensils in water so that these will not get burned on grill. This step is not necessary if you are using metal skewers.

The third step is to wash shrimps in tap water. This will help remove food contaminants present in the seafood. After washing the shrimps in water, the fourth step is to season the seafood with pepper and salt to improve its taste. The fifth step is to get the skewers and dry for five minutes. The sixth step is to thread the seafood in the skewers. If you are using wooden skewers, it is advantageous to use two skewers for a set of three to four shrimps.

The seventh step is to light the barbecue grill and preheat. Spray vegetable oil on the grill. When the grill is ready, proceed with the eighth step, which is to place the seafood on direct heat. Cook the first side of the seafood for half minute to a minute then rotate. The ninth step is to check the seafood for doneness. The seafood is done if its color becomes opaque. Place the seafood on a clean plate and serve immediately.
