Whatever your cooking experience is, grilling potatoes will hardly present any problems. The following recipes and tips should help you get started on the right track.
How to Make Potato Chips
There’s no need to buy potato chips when you can create them easily. Here are the ingredients.
1 tsp of salt
1 tbsp of olive oil
1 lb of large potatoes
Turn on the grill and set it to medium high. Slice the potatoes as thinly as you can make it. Toss the chopped potatoes in a container. Pour in the oil. Add the salt. Mix it well. Put the potatoes in a pan.
Keep it on the grill until it is well heated. Remove them from the pan and arrange the potatoes in one layer. To continue grilling potatoes, cook the layer until it gets brown. Flip it over. Cook until the brown color appears.
When it’s finished, put the potatoes in a bowl. Serve it with some onion dips or other sauces.
Potatoes with Various Seasonings
½ tsp of salt
4 garlic cloves
1 crushed red pepper
2 onions (small, minced)
2 tsp of dill
½ tsp of olive oil
1 tsp of black pepper
¼ tsp of paprika
Other seasonings (your choice)
Chop the potatoes into four large chunks. Put them in a bowl. Mix
all the other ingredients in another bowl. Before you start grilling potatoes, pour the ingredients on the cut potatoes. Store this in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Turn on the grill. Set it to medium. Bring out the potatoes and layer them on a foil. Pour the sauce on it. Cover it with the foil. Grill it for 30 minutes.
How to Cook Whole Potatoes
Follow these steps if you want to grill uncut potatoes. Wash the potatoes. Place it on an aluminum foil. Sprinkle about a tablespoon of oil on it. At this point you can add salt, pepper or any of the seasonings mentioned earlier.
Cover the potatoes with the foil. Put it on the grill. Close the lid. Let it cook for 45 minutes. To find out if you’re done grilling potatoes, pierce the potato with a fork. If it’s cooked, the fork will go through with ease.
If you don’t have the time, cut the potatoes in half; this will reduce the cooking time. After cutting, flavor it as you wish and grill it. It will take 30 minutes.
Notes on Using a Gas Grill
For new grillers, it’s best to cut the potatoes in half. Make incisions on each piece and butter it. Spray it with salt and garlic and cook on the gas grill. Set the grill to low.
Tips and Warnings
Use a microwave to speed up the grilling process. Let the potatoes cook on the microwave. This will shorten the grilling to about 20 minutes. There’s also no need to dry the potatoes; after washing, you can place them on the foil and add the seasonings.
The time for grilling potatoes varies, depending on the recipe you’re preparing. Also remember that large, whole potatoes may take an hour or so to grill. Be patient.
